Year-End Review: A Look Back at UARDT’s 2024 Impact
As we approach the end of 2024, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the wide range of activities and events organized by the Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust (UARDT) this year. Throughout 2024, UARDT has made significant contributions to the community, focusing on environmental, social, and health-related initiatives, as well as empowering individuals through various educational and service-oriented programs. Here’s a look back at some of the impactful events and efforts UARDT has undertaken over the year.
Sewing Machines Donation
Earlier in the year, UARDT contributed to the empowerment of women by donating sewing machines to deserving individuals, enabling them to learn and earn a livelihood through tailoring. This act of support has positively impacted many families, giving them a valuable skill and helping to boost local economies.
“My Plant My Breath” Program in Pithapuram
On 26 September 2024, UARDT organized the “My Plant My Breath” program in Pithapuram, focusing on environmental awareness and the importance of planting trees for a healthier future. This event saw the participation of local communities, who came together to plant trees and contribute to a greener, more sustainable environment.
Social and Environmental Services
On 9th September 2024, Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust, in collaboration with the Rotary Blood Bank, organized a blood donation camp which was inaugurated by the head of the trust, Umar Alisha Swamiji. Through the trust, sewing machines were distributed to many poor women, and grain balls made for bird food were distributed at the event.
Free Sewing Training Camp
On 23 June 2024, UARDT organized a free sewing training camp to help individuals, especially women, develop essential skills that can lead to financial independence. This initiative aims to create opportunities for those in need to improve their livelihoods and foster entrepreneurship.
5K Run For Green in Hyderabad
As part of their environmental advocacy, UARDT hosted the “5K Run For Green” event in Hyderabad on 16 June 2024. This event brought together people of all ages who participated in the run to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and the need for sustainable practices.
Awareness Session for 2nd Batch of Sewing Training
On the same day as the 5K event, UARDT also conducted an awareness session for the second batch of sewing training on 16 June 2024. The session provided participants with essential knowledge about sewing techniques and the potential for turning these skills into a sustainable career.
“My Plant My Breath – Make Pithapuram Green” Event
UARDT’s dedication to environmental issues was further highlighted on 14 June 2024 with the “My Plant My Breath – Make Pithapuram Green” event. This initiative aimed at greening the local community, encouraging individuals to plant trees and contribute to a cleaner, more eco-friendly environment in Pithapuram.
World Environment Day Celebrations
UARDT marked World Environment Day in 2024 with various activities focused on raising environmental awareness. These activities included tree plantation drives, community clean-ups, and educational sessions on sustainable living, reinforcing the trust’s commitment to the planet.
Buttermilk Distribution Center in Attili
In 2024, UARDT also launched a buttermilk distribution center in Attili to help the local population during the hot summer months. This service was aimed at providing relief and keeping people hydrated, especially those in rural areas who often face extreme heat conditions.
Bird Sanctuary Inauguration in Pithapuram
On 24 March 2024, UARDT inaugurated a bird sanctuary in Pithapuram, creating a safe haven for wildlife and providing a space for locals to learn about the importance of biodiversity and conservation efforts. This initiative highlights the organization’s commitment to environmental preservation.
Free Medical Camps
UARDT has always prioritized healthcare access for underserved communities. On 17 March 2024, the trust organized a free medical camp in Gaddapalli, followed by another one in Ghatpalli Ashram on 31 March 2024. These camps provided essential healthcare services to people who otherwise would not have had access to proper medical care.
Women’s Day Celebrations
To honor women and promote gender equality, UARDT organized a special event on 10 March 2024 for Women’s Day. The celebration included awareness campaigns and activities aimed at empowering women in rural communities, highlighting their important role in society.
Free Cooling Water Plant in Pithapuram
In response to the extreme heat conditions during the summer, UARDT opened a free cooling water plant in Pithapuram on 8 March 2024. This initiative was designed to provide much-needed relief to local residents, offering them free access to chilled water during the hottest days of the year.
International Awards Ceremony in Malaysia
On 28 January 2024, UARDT received international recognition for its community work at an awards ceremony in Malaysia. This prestigious event honored the trust’s ongoing efforts to improve rural lives and foster sustainable development through various programs and initiatives.
Free Homeopathic Medical Service at Ballipadu Ashram
UARDT’s commitment to healthcare was also demonstrated through the free homeopathic medical services offered at Ballipadu Ashram on 27 January 2024. This service aimed to provide accessible healthcare to the ashram’s residents, many of whom rely on the trust for essential medical treatments.
